The Magnesium Content of the Erythrocytes in Pernicious and Some Other Anemias.

چکیده
The authors have previously reported (1) variations in the permeability of the red blood cells in pernicious anemia. In spite of the considerable r6le played by magnesium in important fields of biology, comparatively little study has been directed towards the magnesium content of the human red blood cells. Greenberg and Schmidt (2) state that magnesium is present in normal erythrocytes in quantities between 5.4 and 7.8 mgm. per cent, and that during anemia readings up to 15 mgm. per cent may be obtained. Animal experiments carried out by Henriques and Qrskov (3) gave results suggesting that an increased magnesium content is a property of newly formed red cells. Anemia was induced in rabbits and dogs, either by bleeding or by injection of phenylhydrazine. During the regenerative stage, in which the young red blood cells are relatively more numerous, a considerable rise in erythrocyte magnesium was observed, occasionally after the bleeding, and regularly in the phenylhydrazine experiments. This evidence seemed to warrant the probability that information regarding human anemic states might be obtained through investigations into the magnesium content of the erythrocytes, and the following study was undertaken.

Changes in some physiological traits and mucilage yield of sour tea (Hibiscus Sabdariffa L.) under foliar application of magnesium and iron oxide nanoparticles
In order to investigate the effect of magnesium oxide (MgO) and iron oxide (Fe2O3) nanoparticles (NPs) on physiological traits and the yield of sour tea (Hibiscus Sabdariffa L.), a factorial experiment was conducted in a randomized complete block design (RCBD) with four replications in 2018. MgO and Fe2O3 were used in concentrations of 0.01% and 0.03% as foliar application. The results show...
متن کاملEffect of Certain Tissue Extracts on Red Blood Cell Regeneration
While most of the anemias in human beings are due to some well known cause, and are for this reason looked upon as secondary, there are instances in which the cause cannot be determined, though the blood changes indicate that even these are of the secondary type. For this reason most of the experimental work done in the past in the attempt to obtain more information as to the cause of anemia in...
متن کاملPhysiological Evaluation of Pistachio Frost Damage Resistant Rootstocks
On 16th of March 2008, temperature decreased to -6ºC in some parts of the Kerman pistachio plantation area that was caused the heavy damage to pistachio growers. After the damage, some rootstocks were resistance to this temperature and no damage was interned to them. In the present study five rootstocks of resistant and five rootstocks of susceptible to frost damage were selected and evaluated ...
متن کاملDear Editor,
I read with interest Dr. Yazdani's reply about the article entitled “administration of magnesium sulfate to women with premature labor: The effect on bleeding time”.1 In my review of hematology references, I could not find any reference for determining hemoglobin (Hb) sooner than 24 hrs and Dr. Yazdani had not cited any reference either. However, about the influence of Hb on homeostasis, ther...

In order to find out the reasons for suc...
